Story of Rocketeers
Rocketeers: Nuts About Rockets
Founded in 2015 by Divyanshu Poddar and Akash Ekka, rocketry enthusiasts from IIST, with the aim to increase awareness of model rocketry in India. With fewer than 500 model rockets flown annually, Rocketeers began conducting workshops, events, demos and outreach programs.
Typhoon: Our First Model Rocket
In May 2015, Rocketeers introduced its inaugural model rocket "Typhoon" and conducted its first workshop at Career Academy, Ludhiana — inspiring enthusiasts through hands-on experiences and educational opportunities.
Rocketeers' India Model Rocket Workshop Tour
Over the next two years, workshops were conducted in schools and colleges across the nation — from the metropolises of Bombay and Bangalore to the remote corners of Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu and Sircilla, Telangana.
The First Indian Commercial Model Rockets
Rocketeers revolutionized the Indian rocketry scene in 2018 by introducing the country's first commercially available range of model rocketry products — components, launch equipment, safety gear and complete DIY kits — with nationwide online delivery.
India's Model Rocketry Renaissance
The introduction of Rocketeers' products had an extraordinary impact. In 2019 alone, over 60,000 model rockets took to the skies — a testament to the transformative power of accessible and affordable rocketry.
The Guinness World Record
Rocketeers created a Guinness World Record for the "maximum number of students assembling working model rockets at a single location" during the India International Science Festival, Goa in December 2021 — 540 students assembled, 497 successful launches.
Rocketeers' Journey with ISRO
Rocketeers proudly supported ISRO's YUVIKA 2023 program, providing model rockets for over 250 selected students at ISRO centers — and became the official merchandise partner of ISRO, integrating rocketry within ISRO campuses.
Pioneering the Indian Rocketry Ecosystem
As India's space sector opens up, Rocketeers' collaborations with agencies like ISRO and IN-SPACe promise an even brighter future — building a robust rocketry ecosystem and propelling the nation towards a boundless spacefaring journey.
